MARTINSTOWN continue to go from strength to strength, building on their performances on the field with outstanding contributions off it.

To further enhance the club's reputation, they have been awarded the Dorset Funeral Plan League's ground of the Year trophy for the 2015 season, an accolade they have won twice in the past three seasons.

Club captain Matt Rimmer said: “This award is recognition of the time and effort our grounds team puts in throughout the year.

“We play a great deal of cricket at Ashton and it is testament to Paul House and his team’s continued efforts that the calibre of pitches remains excellent, a fact now recognised by the league, visiting umpires and opposition sides.”

The team have not had a break either as they set to work on establishing two strips for the youth section to starting using towards the end of the 2016 season.

Lee House, youth co-ordinator, added: “We recognised that in order for the youth players to achieve their potential we needed to invest in additional strips for them to play their youth cricket on. With more and more MCC youth players making it to representative cricket we can now provide for further development and coaching on grass tracks.”

The club continues to invest in youth cricket and welcomes new members.
