SIMON Browne is keen to focus on the cricket after his controversial sacking from Wimborne Town Football Club on Tuesday.

The Weymouth cricket captain has had a turbulent week dealing with the fallout from his previous employment but is hoping that Weymouth’s game against Ferndown Wayfarers tomorrow at Redlands (1.30pm) can be the perfect remedy.

He said: “That (the cricket) is a silver lining to this cloud. It’s been a tough week dealing with the fallout. It will be nice to play and take my mind off it.”

Ferndown have the same record as their opponents with one win and one loss and Browne is hoping his side will not change their gameplan.

He added: “We will approach it in the same manner and I expect everyone to make a contribution.

“We need to get a few more runs on the board, and hopefully we will have enough to get over the line.”

Both teams are yet to hit a score of more than 200 in their opening two games, however Browne sees this as normal for this time of year.

“Everyone is trying to find their form and that could be why side’s are not hitting big scores. We need to attack,” said Browne.

His side are set to make two changes as Dave Pearce and Tom England will be replaced by Dominic Webb and Harry Mitchell.
