DORSET collapsed for the second time in two days as they fell to a 10-wicket defeat inside two days against Shropshire in the MCCA Championship at Whitchurch.

After bowling the hosts out for 296, the away side were skittled out for just 119 in 44.3 overs.

This gave Shropshire a target of just eight for victory and they knocked it off in four balls of the fourth innings.

Shropshire’s captain James Ralph was unbeaten overnight and he top scored with 87.

Jake Lilley took four wickets for Dorset as they fought back to take the last five wickets for 42 runs.

But, after the openers put on 63 for the first wicket, the away side fell apart losing all 10 wickets for just 56 runs.

David Wainwright did much of the damage. He took five wickets for 30 runs in 13.3 overs.

He was ably assisted by Jack McIver who took four wickets.

Only Tom Arnold and Masoor Khan scored more than 15 as they scored 30 and 33 respectively.

Captain Chris Park and Mark Wolstenhome were the only other batsmen to get into double figures.

Shropshire didn’t hang around to knock off the nine they needed to win as Richard Oliver hit two boundaries – coupled with a wide – to win.
