SKIPPER Chris Park admitted there will be some “friendly banter” when former Dorset man Jake Lintott faces up against his previous county tomorrow.

Lintott, Park’s vice-captain in the Dorset set-up last term, made the switch to join Wiltshire in the winter and has been named in the visiting squad to take on the former Dean Park side in the last eight of the MCCA Knockout Trophy at North Perrott (11am).

Dorset have initially named a 14-man squad for the encounter and Park indicated Hampshire professional Lewis McManus, who has two centuries in the competition already this season, is expected to be available.

Somerset leg-spinner Max Waller is now expected not to feature, but left-arm seamer Tom Barber, who has trialled at Taunton this term after a spell with Hampshire, could play a part.

Asked what reception all-rounder Lintott will receive when he strides out to bat, in what could be a high-pressure situation against Dorset, captain Park told Echosport: “A couple of the guys play club cricket at Clevedon with him so there will be some friendly banter.

“We know the Wiltshire boys really well from the last two or three years.

“There is some mutual respect there and we all respect each other in Minor Counties cricket.

“I trust all the guys not to take it over that line.”

Park, who played in the final of the Trophy in 2006, added: “We played them in a pre-season friendly that was rain-affected and we are very familiar with their team, as they will be with us. There is nothing to fear in that respect.

“We haven’t been in a quarter-final for three or four seasons now and a lot of the players haven’t played in one. We are looking forward to it and may the best team win.”
