SIMON Browne is hopeful the rain will stay away as his Weymouth side look to do the double over Bere Regis at Redlands tomorrow (1.30pm).

Weymouth’s 12-run win at Bere Regis, back on the opening day of the season in April, was the outfit’s only victory of the season.

Since then, they have lost narrowly in a number of games and Browne hopes their enforced week off last weekend, due to fixtures, can re-energise the side.

The captain said: “We had a good week off as most of the games were cancelled due to the rain.

“But, it’s back to the same old routine of trying to do well and hopefully we can get a win on the board.

“The format doesn’t change much.

“It’s a pretty simple formula we have to bat, bowl and field well, and if you do that then you give yourself a decent chance.”

Weymouth will be without Joe James and Dan Hutchens for the clash with Dominic Webb and Sam Rathnayake coming back into the Weymouth side.

Weymouth: Janaway, Womble, Payne, Browne, D Pearce, Walton, M Pearce, Ratanayake, Webb, Mitchell, Puckett.
