DORCHESTER SECONDS 82-5 (18pts) beat BOURNEMOUTH THIRDS 97 (2pts) by five wickets
A HAT-TRICK from Pete Horne helped Dorchester to a five-wicket win over Bournemouth in a rain-affected game.
The bowler took 5-13 in nine overs as he helped reduce the visitors to 40-9 before they were bowled out for 97.
He then helped see his side home with four overs to spare after their target had been revised.
Batting first, Bournemouth struggled to get going as Horne impressed with pace and accuracy. He tore through the top order with assistance from Mike Peak (2-15).
The away side fell to 40-9 before Ollie Breckon (25no) and Gareth Davies (19) put on 57 for the last wicket by batting sensibly.
In reply, Dorchester started poorly as they fell to 14-2, but Malcolm Stroudley (15) and Matt Porter (34) played well, putting on 43 for the third wicket.
It was then left to Ben Macklin (10no) and Horne to seal an impressive victory for the second team.
The result leaves them fifth in County Division Three having played 10 games.
Up next for the side is a trip to Shillingstone on Saturday.
