DORSET have it all to do to save the game on the final day of their Championship contest against Cornwall tomorrow, trailing the hosts by 53 runs in their second innings at Truro.

With the home team resuming their first innings on 169-4 earlier today, just six runs behind Dorset’s first innings total, Cornwall’s middle and lower order all contributed as they posted 388-8 from their 90 overs.

Cornwall recorded a first innings lead of 213 and that was partly thanks to a stunning 138 from Greg Smith, who spent almost four hours at the crease to put his side well in the box seat.

Former Hampshire man Tom Barber was the pick of the Dorset attack with 3-75 from 18 overs.

Following the loss of opener Tom Arnold for a duck in reply, Dorset were in deep trouble before Luke Webb (64) and Mike Porter (47) helped the visitors to rebuild.

But as they both fell to man of the moment Smith, Dorset closed the day on 160-4, in trouble and facing a defeat.
