AFTER back-to-back wins, Simon Browne is confident that tomorrow’s game against Wimborne & Colehill Seconds can finally end Weymouth’s long wait for a win at Redlands (1.30pm).
Their last home victory came back in 2014, but with his side in form, the captain is hopeful that they can carry their good play into the clash.
Speaking about the fixture, Browne said: “The aim is to get a win at home. They (Wimborne) have been on a bad run of form but beat Broadstone last weekend, so we can’t take them lightly. It will be a tough game.”
With the sun having baked the Redlands pitch this week, young spinner Harry Mitchell could be a key factor to the outcome of the game.
Browne added: “He’s bowled well all season. We’re looking for him to take the wickets that his bowling has deserved.
“Because of the weather it may spin more. He bowled a good spell last week too.
“We have some confidence but we have to play well and hopefully the result takes care of itself.
“We’ll look to bat first if it is a hot day and put them under pressure.”
Weymouth are set to make three changes to their side as Ben Doidge, Kieron Womble and Dave Pearce are replaced by Joe James, Dean Janaway and Dave Blackman.
Weymouth: Janaway, Blackman, Payne, Browne, Walton, Webb, Mitchell, Puckett, M Pearce, Hutchens, James
