DORSET captain Chris Park is excited to see what his young county players can do as they get set to take on Wales at Chapel Gate tomorrow in the three-day MCCA Championship (11am).

Teenager Luke Matthews is set to make his debut for the hosts, coming in for Luke Webb and Josh Digby has earned himself a recall having impressed for the Dorset Leopards last weekend to replace Jem Warner.

Also coming into the side is fringe player Tom Jacques for Tom Arnold.

Speaking about the young players, Park said: “Paul Prichard (Dorset’s coach) is all about youth development and it’s great that they are getting this opportunity.

“Luke and Josh impressed with scores for the Leopards and we’re hoping for more of the same.

“Wales are a good side, and they also play a young side. It is like a Glamorgan Academy, but we have to focus on ourselves and make sure the bowlers take wickets and the batsmen score big runs.”

One of the batsman aiming for a knock is Max Trueman.

The 16-year-old has impressed his captain so far and will open for Dorset tomorrow.

Park added: “Max has applied himself really well and against Cornwall he didn’t look out of place.

“Hopefully he can score some runs and we get as many points from our last two games.”
