DORCHESTER are aiming to respond from a hat-trick of defeats in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier Division tomorrow (3pm), as they host Broadstone at the Rec.
Skipper Simon Mitchem’s side have dropped out of contention to capture the league title in recent weeks, after a strong start to the campaign.
But, keen to keep upbeat, Mitchem is targeting a place in the top four of the league at the end of the season and a win against Broadstone, who currently occupy fourth ahead of Dorchester, would certainly help the cause.
“It’s massively important that we put in a performance this weekend. We want a top-four finish,” Mitchem told Echosport.
“We need to make sure we do the things we haven’t been doing in recent weeks and get the win.”
After initially being set to come back from a hamstring injury last weekend, Josh Richardson is now expected to return tomorrow. Quentin Miller is back in and Ben Macklin is set to keep his place.
Nick Roe is likely to feature for the club’s second team this week, meaning opening batsman Dan Belt will take the wicket keeping gloves.
Explaining that situation, the county town captain added: “Dan keeps in the Evening League as well. He is happy to do it.
“Nick was not dropped, he has asked to go down to the seconds and try and score some runs as he feels a bit out of form with the bat.”
Dorchester: Belt, Moxom, Morris, Miller, Mitchem, Macklin, Richerdson, Dunham, Trotter, Foot, Horne
