SWANAGE 212-4 (19pts) beat DORCHESTER (4pts) 156 by 56 runs
A CENTURY from Swanage opener Matt Thomas meant that Dorchester were defeated in their final league fixture of the summer.
Thomas racked up an unbeaten 120 at the top of the order as he made the Dorchester fielders pay for putting him down earlier in his innings, as the visitors posted 212-4 from 35 overs batting first in a game that was rain affected.
Spinner Jack Walklett was the pick of the Dorchester attack with 2-40 from six overs but, in reply with the bat, the home side crumbled.
James Dunham was given a rare cameo up the order and made the most of his opportunity by top scoring with 41, Dan Belt (27) and skipper Simon Mitchem (29) both contributed but wickets fell at regular intervals as Dorchester’s season ended with a whimper.
They were bowled out in 31.1 overs for just 156 in reply.
Dorchester skipper Mitchem said: “It was a very sombre affair to be honest with you.
“A lot of our guys struggled to get up for it. They were missing loads of guys, we were missing loads of guys.
“It was a typical end of season game with nothing on it. It was hard to get motivated.
“They could have easily been out for 70 or 80 if things had gone our way.”
