ABBOTSBURY bowler Krishnan Subramanian collected the performance of the year award at the Dorset Funeral Plan League awards evening.

The wily spinner took 9-12 for the Swans against Wareham, including a double wicket maiden and a hat-trick in County League Four.

He beat stiff competition from Sridhar Ramakhrisnan of

Compton House and Ashmore’s Lee Russell, who both scored 161 in a game, and Dean Rogerson of Bere Regis who took 7-24.

A thrilling end to the season saw Wimborne & Colehill take the Premier League title by a single point from runners-up Poole Town.

At the annual awards evening the winning team picked up the trophy – four years after they last lifted it.

County Division One was hugely competitive with eight of the nine teams occupying top spot at one point.

In the end, Shroton claimed the title from Bere Regis and will make their debut in the Premier League next season.

Division Two culminated with a ‘winner-takes-all’ promotion game between Witchampton and Poole Town – which saw Poole jump into second place.

But Cattistock Seconds took the title having been at the top from week nine.

In the third division, Shillingstone Seconds finished runners-up and continue their rise through the leagues, but they couldn’t beat Cranborne to the top spot.

Division Four saw Charlton Down take the title and they have now suffered just five defeats in the last three seasons.

They beat off competition from Hamworthy Rec Seconds who were runners-up.

Chalke Valley came out on top of Division Five with Cerne

Valley Seconds taking sec-

ond.

And Division Six saw the tightest finish in any of the divisions with Portland Red Triangle Seconds and Marnhull ending on the same number of points. In the end, Marnhull won on the ‘tie-breaker’ rule.

The team of the season award went to Charlton Down, with a special mention to Chalke Valley.

And the August team of the month award was won by Cattistock.

Nick Douch of the sponsors, The Dorset Funeral Plan, said: “We’ve been sponsoring the league for a number of years but I can’t remember seasons when there were so many tight finishes.

“We congratulate all the winners and look forward to another competitive season in 2017.”
