STURMINSTER MARSHALL 104 (3pts) lost to DORCHESTER SECONDS 105-5 (19pts) by five wickets

DORCHESTER’S second XI made it two wins on the bounce in County Division Three with an emphatic win at Sturminster Marshall.

County Town skipper Mike Peak took the bit between his teeth, opening the bowling and picking up 4-12.

He was joined by youngster Olly Osborne, who continues to improve each week, recording an impressive 4-10.

Only two of the Sturminster Marshall batsmen reached double figures on the afternoon having posted a first inning total of 104, and they were two members of the current Weymouth Football Club set-up.

Terras’ defender Calvin Brooks scored 48 batting at number four for Sturminster, and there was also 32 for assistant-manager Paul Maitland, who is the chairman of the cricket club.

In reply Dorchester wicket-keeper batsman Nick Roe anchored the county town side’s innings, hitting a patient 26 before he was dismissed by the medium pace of Brooks, who took 2-22 from eight overs.

But it was Dorchester talisman Steve Clifford who really caught the eye with an impressive 48, seeing his side home by five wickets and picking up 20 points in the process.
