KINGSTON LACY 211-4 (6pts) lost to DORCHESTER SECONDS 214-3 (17pts) by 7 wickets

THE returning Dan Morris anchored Dorchester Seconds to a fine seven-wicket win against Kingston Lacy at the Rec and helped propel his team into a promotion spot in County League Division Three.

Kingston Lacy were put in on a track which looked bowler-friendly early on but they batted sensibly throughout on a wicket which improved throughout the day.

Pete Horne beat the bat several times and on another day could have picked up several wickets but with nothing going to hand, Kingston Lacy finished on a 200 plus total at tea.

Although not many wickets were taken, Dorchester felt that this total was not as formidable as first thought where the opposition were probably 30 short on a pitch which is improving every week.

Morris (71no) and Pete Diffey (52) took no time in going after the total before the latter was run out for the second time in two weeks with a direct hit from the boundary.

Mike Peak (66) then joined Morris and carried off where Diffey left off before being bowled and leaving Matt Porter (13) to join Morris in seeing the county town home and a fine seven-wicket win in the 43rd over with plenty of batting left in the hutch and only seven wickets taken the entire day.
