DORCHESTER club captain Simon Mitchem believes his side are “in the mix” as they travel to Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League leaders Broadstone tomorrow (1pm).

Mitchem’s men sit 24 points behind tomorrow’s opponents in third, and the all-rounder is eagerly awaiting what is arguably his side’s biggest game of the season to date.

He told Echosport: “It’s a very big game for both teams and I’m sure they will be as up for it as we are.

“We’ve had a good run so far and put ourselves in the mix, now there are some big games coming up. Those are the games you want to play in and that’s the attitude we want to take into the game.

“Last year we went there and had a really good win, but we’ll try not to focus on that. It’s making sure we’re in the right frame of mind for the game.”

And Mitchem is sure there will be further twists along the way, but remained tight-lipped on whether a clear favourite for the title may arise after this game.

He said: “The league is very open this year. After this game there’s still six to be played. Even with the other teams there’s going to be unexpected results.

“It would be nice to get the win. It would put us in a great position going forward.”

Dorchester will make at least two changes to the side that beat Sherborne, with Steve Clifford and Will McKay missing out.
