DORCHESTER captain James Dunham expects a “big test” when his side travels to Swanage in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League tomorrow (1pm).

Dunham’s men decimated Stalbridge in their opening fixture, bowling them out for 47 before completing a nine-wicket victory.

Meanwhile Swanage, who missed out on the title to Broadstone last season by just six points, were thrashed by 175 runs against Martinstown on the opening day of the season.

The two sides shared a win apiece in their fixtures last season, and Dunham feels Dorchester are capable of matching the Swans’ “match-winning” players.

He told Echosport: “They were up there with us last year and we had a couple of good close games. It’s always a good test against them.

“They’re a balanced side and they’ve got match-winning players which will be a big test, but I feel that we’ve got the players to match theirs.

“If we play our game we’ll be OK. Cricket can be a funny game and I’m confident that if we play well it will be a close contest.”

Dunham also highlighted the significance of continuing Dorchester’s dazzling start to the season with another victory.

He said: “It’s extremely important. It’s always nice to start with a win like that but there’s going to be some big tests coming our way.

“Doing it most weeks will show how good a side we are and not just from one performance.”

Dorchester are set to make two changes to the side that beat Stalbridge, with all-rounder Will McKay returning.

Dunham said: “Quenton Miller is unavailable and Richard Jenkins is dropping down to the second team, which brings in Will and George Foot.”

Dorchester: McKay, G Foot, Belt, Popli, Anderson, Mitchem, Peake, Richardson, Dunham, Roe, Walklett
