BERE Regis captain Rich Cole is aiming to continue his side’s winning momentum ahead of a trip to Stalbridge in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League tomorrow (1pm).

Cole’s men claimed an impressive four-wicket victory over Sherborne at Bere Regis Rec on the opening day of the season.

Meanwhile, Stalbridge were skittled for 47 to lose by nine wickets at Dorchester.

And Cole is wary of a backlash from the north Dorset side, who he predicts will provide a “good fight” during the encounter.

He said: “We’re planning to get a second win under our belts and get some momentum at the start of the season.

“We hope the middle order performs well and builds upon lessons learnt on Saturday.

“I’m not expecting (Stalbridge) to lie down, I’m expecting them to have a good fight. I’ve played against them before for Dorchester and I know what they’ve got in their armoury.

“We’re definitely looking forward to getting a win. It’s one of the grounds we haven’t played on for a long time.”

Bere Regis are set to make just one change to the side that defeated Sherborne as opening bowler Rich Payne comes into the side in place of batsman Garry King.

Cole said: “We’ve brought Rich into the team, which will bolster our bowling options, which we feel needed to be done after the performance on Saturday.”
