MARTINSTOWN captain Ed Nichols is looking for someone to hold their hands up and put in a big score ahead of hosting last year’s champions Broadstone in their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier Division at Lower Ashton Farm tomorrow (1pm).

Nichols is looking to improve on batting and is aiming for his side to bat for 50 overs.

Nichols said: “I think the batting is one where, asides from the first game, we have not batted for 50 overs. I know I hammer on about it but it is crucial.

“I think batting is the area where someone needs to hold their hands up, probably me to be honest, and make a big score.”

“We have had two good wins there and a tough defeat last week but it is a nice place to play, we are always confident at our own ground.”

Last time out Martinstown were beaten by Dorchester at home, which was their first defeat at home so far this season.

Broadstone lie fourth in the table and are just above Martinstown, with five more points, and have an identical record of three wins and two losses so far this season.

When asked if it was too early for the table to factor into a match, Nichols said: “They have been a good side for the last few years up at the top or thereabouts, they won it last year so it is a good benchmark for us, a good challenge.

“It will be good to see where we measure up to in terms of the leading sides in the league.”

Martinstown make two changes with Sean Williams coming in for Lee House and Matt Camp replacing Sam Hennessy.
