MARTINSTOWN have officially unveiled their extended clubhouse at Lower Ashton Farm.

The project has involved building an extension to the original building and the addition of further player and grounds facilities.

Commenting on the work, Chairman, David Gargrave said: “This represents a significant step in the development of the club. As our membership has grown it became apparent that we needed to match this with an enhancement of our facilities.

“Our youth section is one of the strongest in the area and this year we have a newly-formed Ladies and Girls group which is proving to be equally successful. In addition we have started the national ‘All Stars’ programme which is aimed at children from ages five to eight.”

At an opening ceremony, local councillor, Robert Freeman praised the club for its commitment to the community and the excellent work that it was doing to further cricket in the area across all ages and all abilities.

In thanking all the attendees at the event, Gargrave expressed gratitude to the support the club had received from West Dorset Council, local parish councils, sponsors, suppliers and the community as a whole.

He said: “Without this level of support and the skills of our own build team none of this would have been possible. Everyone in the club can take great pride in what has been achieved”
