Dorchester will be playing the role of party poopers tomorrow as they look to end Parley’s hopes of a third successive Dorset Premier League title.
The two sides clash at the Rec (1pm) with the visitors needing to better Poole Town’s final result by three points to claim top spot.
However, the county town side are feeling far from charitable as they aim to end the 2011 season on a winning note.
Skipper Martyn Richards, whose side lifted the crown back in 2008, said: “We know that although we can’t win the league, our performance could have a bearing on who does win it, and we would love nothing more than to win tomorrow and finish our campaign on a high.
“We also need to do Poole and the league itself justice by performing to the best of our ability. I know a lot of people around Dorset will be wanting us to win as it’s good to see different names on the trophy.
“A lot of people like Poole as they are a good bunch of guys who enjoy their cricket – very much like ourselves.
“We know there is a lot riding on the game so we owe it to Poole to put in a good performance.
“The guys are itching to play after last week’s game was called off and they want to sign off in style by beating Parley and helping Poole win the league.
“We are really up for it and I can’t believe the season is just about over.
“It’s been a season of many ups and downs but we have played some great cricket at times.”
Third-placed Dorchester make three changes to the XI that was due to face Suttoners last weekend.
Lee Haynes and Aaron Oliver are unavailable while Joe Power drops to the seconds. Filling the void are Shaun Little, John Legg and Chris Backhouse.
Dorchester: Backhouse, Belt, Dunham, Evans, Legg, Little, Miller, Moxom, Richards, Roe, Waite.
n Dorchester Seconds end their Division Two campaign with a trip to Christchurch while the thirds bring the season to a close by welcoming Henstridge to Charlton Down in Division Five (both 1.30pm).
