BEAMINSTER face a tough opener to their Dorset Funeral Plan Divison One campaign when they travel to Stalbridge (2pm).
The West Dorset club, who registered six league victories last season and finished sixth, will be severely tested at The Park by Stalbridge, who last year came an impressive second behind runaway winners Dorchester, winning exactly half of their matches.
And in a recent friendly against Premier Division champions Broadstone, tomor-row's hosts, despite narrowly losing, were boosted by a heroic performance from 19-year-old Stuart Sweatman, whose all-round capabilities were evident when he scored a magnificent century after earlier recording figures of
3-40.
However, Beaminster's spirits will be high and captain Richard Bugler's troops have been buoyed by the arrival of Aussie star Jason Dandridge, whose participation this season had been in jeopardy until accom-modation was finally sorted in March.
Acquiring his services is a major fillip for Beaminster, and the Western Australian will be gunning to show why he is so highly thought of Down Under.
Dandridge, who plays for Rockingham Mandurah Dist-ricts, has risen rapidly through the ranks and is hoping that a successful summer in England can
aid his goal of securing a regular spot playing first grade cricket for Western Australia.
