BRIDPORT begin their Dorset Funeral Plan Division Two campaign at the Brewery Ground tomorrow against Hamworthy Recreation (2pm).
The hosts, who were relegated last year after a torrid season in which they registered only one league victory, start the term fresh and raring to go with a host of new players.
Visitors Hamworthy strug-gled in Division Two last season, finishing third from bottom with five wins and nine defeats, and Bridport captain Chris Backhouse is confident his side can make the perfect start with a morale-boosting victory.
He said: I don't know too much about Hamworthy but we'll go into the match in the right frame of mind and a win would be a great start for us.
It's great to get back into a competitive match, and our victory in the friendly against Symene last week did us a lot of good.''
All-rounder Backhouse top scored for Bridport in that friendly against Symene with an unbeaten 71, and opener Matt Sherring, who notched a healthy 68, ably assisted him.
On the bowling front, there were solid performances all round and the wickets were shared, which bodes well for tomorrow's opener.
