BLUES’ boss Chris Wilson admits he may be forced to ring the changes tomorrow as Portland United continue to fight on all three fronts.

With the islanders top of the Magna Dorset Premier League and successfully through to round two of the Dorset Senior Cup, Wilson’s men begin their quest for League Cup glory tomorrow with Parley Sports the visitors to Grove Corner (2pm).

And the second round tie could prove the ideal opportunity to rotate the squad.

Wilson said: “We are in three competitions – the Dorset Premier League, the League Cup and the Dorset Senior Cup – and we take them equally seriously.

“We have a big squad so tomorrow might be a chance to look at others and keep people ticking over.

“There are plenty of games coming up and you need more than 14 players to keep fighting on three fronts.

“We may look to change things around tomorrow but we will make that decision.”

In-form duo Chickerell United and Weymouth Reserves also face second round assignments this weekend.

The Chickens will host Wareham Rangers at Cranford Avenue while the Terras will make the trip to Swanage Town & Herston (both 2pm).

United have won their last four on the spin and manager Maurice Welch is keen for the momentum to continue.

He said: “Only two or three teams at this standard would have lived us in the first half last week at Shaftesbury, such was the quality of the performance, and hopefully we can keep that going this weekend.

“We beat Wareham 3-0 earlier in the season but they gave us a really good game that day and I am expecting no different tomorrow.

“We should have a similar squad with may be a couple more back. Liam Beades is still injured but Janek Tarnawski is likely to return after featuring for the reserves last week.”

Weymouth joint-boss Jake Richmond has also been impressed with his men of late.

Not only have they strung together a four-game unbeaten run but they have also produced some fantastic performances. Richmond said: “We are on a bit of a roll at the minute and we just cannot wait for the next game.

“We have got Swanage two weeks in a row now and we are looking forward to it.

“We showed a different side to us at Wareham last weekend by digging in and grinding out the victory, and if we continue to show that sort of commitment there is no reason why the momentum cannot continue.”

Finally, Bridport Reserves are in league action at home to basement boys Poole Borough (3pm).

Victory would not only extend the Bees’ unbeaten run to six games but it would also see them make up ground on the teams above them.

Boss Robin Townsend, whose side lie sixth, said: “With everyone else in cup action, tomorrow is a great chance for us to pick up three points and put the pressure on the sides around us.

“It would also put us within touching distance of the top four, which is hopefully where we will finish at the end of the season.”

Dominic Rowe is expected to return for the Bees who could also be boosted by a couple of first-team players.
