WEYMOUTH 7 HAMWORTHY REC 0

MARK Ford bagged his second hat-trick of the season last night as the Terras cruised into the quarter-finals of the Dorset Senior Cup.

Following Saturday’s dismal exit from the FA Trophy, Brendon King was after a response from his players and they delivered with a 7-0 victory over Hamworthy Recreation.

Ford led the way with another sublime display of finishing with further goals coming from Ben Joyce, Dan Smith and Stephen Reed, who grabbed a brace.

Speaking after the tie at the Bob Lucas Stadium, King said: “I didn’t have to say much beforehand. Last Saturday has gone and what it is about now is the reaction, and last night we got one.

“We played with a lot more purpose and it was good to get the Trophy defeat out of our systems but it still does not make up for it. The real test comes on Saturday at home to Stourbridge.”

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Scott Dixon over the past few days and his absence last night was put down to university commitments.

Another second round clash also took place at St Mary’s Field where Bridport progressed with a narrow 2-1 victory over Chickerell United.

Jamie Filkins and Max Buckler grabbed the goals for the Bees before Liam Beades pulled one back in the closing stages.
