Lethargic Terras are punished

MIX-UP: Simon Evans
BRENDON King has told his players to put yesterday’s “lethargic” and “laboured” performance at Bideford behind them after their six-match winning streak was brought to a shuddering halt.
It’s how the Terras react to the 2-1 defeat in Devon which is of the utmost importance to King, who, despite the below-par display, still feels his side deserved something out of the game.
Weymouth still occupy fifth place in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division and only have to wait until Saturday, when they host Chippenham Town, to get back on track.
“I’m extremely disappointed with how we played against Bideford but we weren’t at the races to be fair,” he said.
“We looked a bit lethargic and laboured. We weren’t sharp and they didn’t have to work too hard for their two goals, which was disappointing.
“Their second goal was a bit of a farce. There was a mix-up between Ashley Wells and our keeper Simon Evans who then tried to dribble the ball around their striker and was caught.
“I thought we did enough to get something out of it but we came away with nothing. I spoke to the players after about how we react and that’s the big question now.
“We’ve got to get over it and go again. We can’t do anything about that game now, we’ve got to get our heads down and work hard.
“Now we’ve got to pick ourselves up and get it right for Saturday. Chippenham is going to be really tough so it’s about how we react and get back on it. We’ve got to switch on now.”
