TERRAS: Terras book Cirencester trip
MATT Groves is expecting another tough tie when the Terras make the trip to Cirencester Town in the next stage of the FA Cup.
Weymouth booked their place in the third qualifying round after a barmy replay at Bognor Regis Town last night, which witnessed three sending-offs and three penalties.
Eventually the visitors ran out 4-1 winners much to the relief of Groves, pictured, who put the result down to good discipline.
The Weymouth player/assistant-manager told Echosport: “We just feel relieved to get the result to be honest.
“To come back from 2-0 down in the first game to claim a draw and then for all that to happen last night was incredible.
“It was certainly a good replay for the neutral but for us it was just crazy.
“At one down, we were finding it pretty tough, but one of their lads then got himself sent off for stamping on Danny Clay and that changed the game.
“We then got a penalty, which saw their keeper walk, and from there we took control.
“Bognor are a good side but in the end their indiscipline has cost them and we can now look forward to the next round.”
Commenting on the away tie at Cirencester, which will take place on October 12, Groves added: “They may be in a lower league than us but I am sure it will be another tough game. We have been there a couple of times over the last few years and we certainly won’t be taking them lightly.”
The Terras also scooped £4,500 with last night’s victory and will gain a further £7,500 if they can make it past the Centurions.
* Weymouth will hold their rescheduled EGM on October 13 at 11am.
