FOOTBALL: Hicks eyes repeat show as Portland face Piddletrenthide
CHRIS Hicks will be after more of the same tomorrow when Portland United Reserves host Piddle-trenthide United at Grove Corner (3pm).
The joint-boss was delighted with his side’s display in last Saturday’s victory at South Cheriton and would love to see a repeat performance.
The Blues’ last home outing ended in an embarrassing 5-1 defeat against Sturminster Marshall but that poor display has now been consigned to history.
Hicks told Echosport: “We did speak briefly about it again last Saturday but the lads knew what went wrong that day and at Cheriton they put it right.
“Their work rate and overall attitude was a lot better and the key now is to produce that every week.
“Piddletrenthide are a tricky team with a couple of decent players but after last weekend’s performance we will be heading into it full of confidence.”
Simon Crouch could be out for Portland for up to eight weeks with a knee injury but Alex Gould and Sanchez Janz-Baker look set to return.
Chickerell United currently lie second and will be out to get back to winning ways at home to Gillingham Town Reserves (3pm).
The Chickens, who had to settle for a point in their last game at Witchampton United, are expected to welcome back Joel Proth-eroe, which could prove very timely with Dan Welch, Steve Lambert and Mark Lambert all set to miss out.
