DORCHESTER SPORTS 1 KANGAROOS 4

RICH Beasley’s derby day double helped Kangaroos defeat Dorchester Sports in this first-ever meeting between the two sides.

Having knocked Weymouth Spartans off top spot in Dorset League Division One the previous weekend, the Roos entered the clash full of confidence and duly took the lead in the opening exchanges.

Jamie Beasley provided the ammunition with a fine cross from a free-kick and there was Kieren Gallimore to turn the ball home at the far post to give the visitors the perfect start.

However, the lead did not last long as Sports immediately struck back following an error from the Roos’ keeper.

His failure to hold the ball presented the easiest of opportunities to Alex Travers and he snapped it up to tie the game.

The Roos could have easily lost focus after that but they continued to dominate possession and, by half-time, were 3-1 to the good.

A fantastic counter-attack, started by Darren Kenny, led to the second, which saw Jamie Beasley burst down the right and smash home, before Rich Beasley added the other from the spot following a foul on Ash White.

Those two strikes put the Roos in full command and, with 20 minutes remaining, they wrapped it up with a fourth.

Kenny once again began the move with a fine challenge and, on this occasion, it was Rich Beasley who finished it off with his second, to the delight of his team-mates.

Roos boss Stuart Damon was overjoyed with his side’s performance and was also pleased to hear that the reserves came out on top at Pimperne Sports Society too.

The second-string ran out 7-4 winners with Darren Greening (2), Robbie Rolls (2), Mason Damon, Harry Brewer and Denis Calcroft the men on target.

The Roos currently sit seventh in Division One while the reserves lie ninth in Division Four.
