TERRAS: Walkers on transfer list

Dorset Echo: TRANSFER LISTED: Michael Walker TRANSFER LISTED: Michael Walker

MICHAEL and Nathan Walker have been put on the transfer list due to an ongoing dispute with the club’s board.

Both sides of the argument have refused to disclose the reasons for the disagreement, which, according to the Walker brothers, has been continuing for several weeks.

Weymouth chairman Nigel Biddlecombe said: “Michael and Nathan asked to be placed on the transfer list after the game against Bedford and we obliged.

“There are a number of reasons why it has come to this and, naturally, we are very disappointed.

“However, just because they are on there, it doesn’t mean they are definitely going to leave.

“If differences can be resolved, maybe they can still get back to doing what they were brought in to do.”

When Echosport contacted the two central defenders to get their views, they admitted to feeling frustrated by the board’s failure to resolve the issue, insisting their grievances have nothing to do with on-the-field matters.

They also confirmed they are right behind caretaker-boss Jason Matthews and will continue to fight for their places in the side, giving everything they have for their hometown club.

Biddlecombe refused to go into any further details about the matter but he did give an update on the club’s ongoing search for a new permanent first-team manager.

The Terras' chief said: “The board has been astonished by the number of people that have shown an interest in the manager’s job and there are some very interesting names on that list as well.

“Jason has been enjoying the challenge but it is whether he wants to continue with it.

“We have come to an agreement that we will sit down after the Chesham game on January 4 and see where we are then.

“If Jason says he fancies the job, the board will then consider him as an option alongside everyone else.”He went on to add: “We have to look to the long term and whoever takes the job going forward is going to have to try and make the most of the local talent around the area.

“In the likes of Sam Poole, Ashley Wells and Mark Ford, we have already unearthed some good local players, and with Luke Winsper, Carl McClements and Matt Harvey coming on too, it is very encouraging.

“However, we still need more coming through because the days of us paying out transfer fees have gone.

“The reserves are doing very well but, at the moment, we have no youth infrastructure and that is something that clearly needs to be addressed.”

The Terras are scheduled to travel to Frome Town this afternoon in the Calor Southern Premier Division (3pm) but there are fears it could be postponed due to the recent wet weather.

With this new open and honest policy, isn't it about those that count were told what this rubbish is all about?
