BEES: Senior not fazed by postponements
TREVOR Senior is not too concerned by recent postponements and is confident they will not affect the Bees’ good run of form.
St Mary’s Field was completely flooded last Saturday but club officials remain hopeful that tomorrow’s home clash with Cadbury Heath (3pm) will go ahead.
Last weekend’s postponement at Hengrove Athletic was the second game Bridport have lost to the weather in just 14 days.
However, they still remain well up on their fixtures having completed 23 in the Toolstation Western Premier Division already this season.
Bridport boss Senior said: “I haven’t seen the pitch over the last few days but, having looked at some of the photos of it last weekend, I don’t think it has ever been as bad.
“It was completely covered in water last Saturday but having spoken to our secretary Chris Tozer on Wednesday, we are hoping tomorrow’s game can still go ahead.
“We have had a bit more rain since and we will just have to wait and see what happens over the next day or so.”
He went on to add: “Looking at the league table, we are pretty much on our games, so it’s not too bad.
“However, we do not want these postponements to go on too much longer because it can cause you to get out of the habit of playing, and as we are on a good run at the minute it is far from ideal.
“Having said that, we have managed to train on the 3G at the Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre over the past week, and even managed to have a full practice match there, so that should keep us ticking over.
“The worry is that we haven’t had a cold snap yet but, at the end of the day, you can do nothing about the weather.
“All we can do is just work through it the best we can.”
Chris Senior, Darren Watts and Ryan Dovell are all unavailable for tomorrow’s clash but Jamie Filkins and Matt Morley are both fit again and should play a part.
Cadbury Heath currently sit nine points and four places above the Bees in seventh spot.
However, Bridport have lost just two of their last 10 in the league, with both of those defeats coming against teams in the top three.
