WARREN Byerley may have gone seven games without a goal but the Dorchester Town striker is not pressing the panic button just yet.

The on-loan Poole forward has played a pivotal role in the Magpies’ turnaround in form over the last month.

And although his team has picked up 10 points from a possible 15 in recent weeks, Byerley is going through something of a goal drought.

However, while the team continues to show signs that they may be able to keep their Skrill South status, Byerley is happy to do what he has been doing.

“I’m happy to be playing every week and it’s going very well,” he said. “It’s a team effort and I just try to work hard for the team.

“I’ve had a couple of chances to score but I’ve been a bit unlucky, I’ve hit the woodwork a couple of times.

“But it’s just one of those things. I’m playing up top on my own so it’s a bit of a different role to what I’m used to.

“It’s not a problem as long as the team is doing well – it will come when it comes.

“I’ve been prolific enough over the years to know that a little drought isn’t going to affect me.

“Hopefully I can get on the scoresheet soon and break my duck – I’m due a goal.”

Byerley will have the chance to do that today when the Magpies welcome Boreham Wood to the Avenue (3pm).

He added: “Boreham Wood had a good result last weekend so it’s going to be tough, but I fancy us to get something.”

The former Terras’ man is currently in the second month of his loan spell and is relishing the chance of regular first-team football under boss Phil Simkin.
