CAPTAIN marvel Ryan Hayter knows exactly what his Bridport team have to work on if they want to get something out of tomorrow’s clash with Hallen (3pm).

Better defending of set-pieces and making the most of scoring opportunities will be the top priorities for the Bees after two points were dropped in the 3-3 draw at Bishop Sutton in midweek.

Trevor Senior’s men appeared to be set for consecutive Toolsta-tion Western League Premier Division victories when Ryan Dovell’s double and a brilliant finish from Jamie Filkins gave them a 3-1 half-time advantage.

But two late goals, the second from the penalty spot with the last kick of the match, saw Bridport pegged back – midfielder Chris Luke was also sent off.

Unfortunately for Bridport, Dovell misses the trip to Bristol tomorrow due to work commitments and Senior is hoping Shane Evans, who played on Tuesday, is better following an illness.

Max Buckler comes in for Dovell and the Bridport chief will have to call on a couple of the reserves to make up the rest of his matchday squad.

Hallen are ninth in the table and have had a decent, though somewhat inconsistent, league campaign so far and they enjoyed a run to the latter stages of the FA Vase.

However, they host Bridport this weekend on the back of a thrilling 5-3 defeat to Radstock at home on Wednesday night.

“We need to work on defending set-pieces,” said Hayter. “They have always been a bit of an Achilles heel for us.

“We need to improve on those and on putting away our chances – we need to be more ruthless in front of goal.

“Hallen got to the fifth round of the FA Vase and they’ve always had a very strong side.

“I’ve never got a point playing them away, but we drew with them at home at our place and they didn’t look like the side they used to be.

“But to get to the fifth round of the Vase is a massive achievement and it’s going to be a really hard game for us.”

Meanwhile, Ashley Staines has left St Mary’s Field to join for-mer club Weymouth, where he will play for the reserves tomorrow.

It had been thought he was off to Sherborne Town but the defender decided to link up with Terras’ reserve-team boss Jake Richmond at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
