CORFE MULLEN GIRLS 2

SOUTHSIDE ANGELS 3

A DRAMATIC last-gasp winner saw Southside Angels protect their three-year unbeaten league record, in a tough away win against Corfe Mullen.

The home side, boasting seven Dor-set development players in their squad, struck the first blow with a finish from Charley-Rae Everett.

Corfe continued to take control after this and Everett found the net once more after she broke through the Angels’ defence to double her side’s advantage at the break.

After an inspirational team talk, the Angels piled on the pressure in the second period.

Captain Sian Atkinson dragged her team back into the game with a stunning 25-yard free-kick.

The goal breathed new life into the resurgent visitors with their strike force running the home defenders ragged and Amy Goodman grabbed an equaliser and it was game on.

With the league title potentially at stake, both sides went for victory, and in the final moments, Angels’ defender Amber Lane collided with Everett in the penalty area only for the referee to wave play on.

And, with a swift break, Goodman raced to the other end of the pitch and curled a shot home for the Angels to claim a vital victory.
