MAGPIES: Injury-time strike leaves Dorchester with that sinking feeling

Dorset Echo: STUNNING STRIKE: Charlie Losasso STUNNING STRIKE: Charlie Losasso

NOT even the return of captain Mark Jermyn could help end Dorchester Town’s winless run at Basingstoke on Saturday, with a stoppage time defeat leaving the Magpies lamenting their ill fortune yet again.

Now four points adrift at the bottom of Skrill South, tomorrow night’s home clash with Maidenhead United, who won at the weekend, takes on even greater significance in the quest for survival.

Unfortunately for Dorchester, while their skipper recovered from injury to play at Basingstoke, he is set to miss the next two fixtures through suspension.

In boss Phil Simkin’s eyes, his side should be going into the match tomorrow on the back of a positive result at the Camrose Stadium.

“A point was the very least we deserved,” he said. “We equalised with a great strike from Charlie Losasso and at one stage it looked as though we were going to win it.

“We chased a second goal because three points are important for us in our position, but we came away with nothing.

“They got the winner in the last few minutes and both their goals were down to individual mistakes, which were very disappointing.”

While Jermyn returned to the fold, Jamie Gleeson and Warren Byerley weren’t able to recover from their knocks in time to make the trip to Hampshire.

That resulted in Jermyn moving into the midfield, Clive Makoni making a rare start up front, and Simkin changing the team’s formation following last week’s thrashing at Eastleigh.

Simkin added: “It was a far better performance than Tuesday, but then that was a case of how good Eastleigh were.

“We went 3-5-2 with the Nathan and Steve Walker and Jake McCarthy at the back, and it worked very well, they were hanging on at 1-1.

“We were missing Glees and Warren but we did okay, unfortunately okay wasn’t good enough.”

That sinking feeling started when the trust took over I'm afraid, surely it's time for change. You have a bunch of people running a football club that are seriously out of there depth !
Phil has tried his best ,I give him credit for that , I do feel he has been a scape goat at times for the trust, unfortunately though he is not the person we need now, ITS GOT TO CHANGE!
Spend some time talking to all the folk around town and in the stands , you'll understand then !!
Let Heath and jermyn have a go , well respected people.
This us the worst I have ever known this club, make a change please, a community club has a manager and board that the community don't respect or believe

And who comes in to replace the board then? What would change with no money?

The trust and the current board are loving this (football fans my backside) everybody knows they want to take them down a couple of leagues so they can get their plastic pitch (remember their failed attempt to get the vote through for all of the Conference South sides to be allowed to use them) to get them some form of finances coming into the club so they can say hey look we are getting it right (well you aren't) .The club with 134 years of history has fast become a joke club under these unfunny clueless comedians ,they say they would step aside if someone come in with money what tosh they won't let the club go now they have their bit of power,
As for Phil Simpkin I feel slightly sorry for him as was said before he is being used as a scapegoat for other peoples ineptitude.
I wonder how many people now look at the situation at Bournemouth and thinks wow that was a missed chance Mr Mitchell said he had a Russian backer with money to burn and he was laughed out of town.
