AURA put the disappointment of their Dorset Intermediate Cup final defeat behind them to claim second place in the Weymouth Sunday League last weekend.
Their 4-3 win over Lazy Lizard means they cannot be caught by Dolphin, who beat the Famous Old Spa 3-1.
The previous meeting between Aura and Lazy Lizard had produced 11 goals back in November – Aura won that 6-5 – and the reverse fixture on Sunday came close to matching that.
In the end, it was the finishing power of Danny Andrews and Chucky Taylor, who both bagged a brace, which gave the home side the edge at Redlands.
Moby Dick’s took advantage of Lazy Lizard’s loss to move from 10th to seventh in the table after a 3-1 victory against visiting Market House.
It was a strong comeback for Moby Dick’s following a crushing 9-3 defeat at home to champions Bar 314 last Thursday.
On the same night, Dolphin had seen their chances of finishing second all but ended with a 3-1 home loss against Lazy Lizard.
Results Thursday: Dolphin 1 Lazy Lizard 3, Moby Dick’s 3 Bar 314 9.
Sunday: Famous Old Spa 1 Dolphin 3, Aura 4 Lazy Lizard 3, Moby Dick’s 3 Market House 1.
