PHIL Simkin has all but ruled out any chance of Charlie Losasso starting next season as a Dorchester Town player.

The midfielder, 21, spent the last four months of the season at the Avenue, around half that time while on loan from Bourne-mouth.

He was released by his parent club towards the end of February, after which he played for Dorchester on a non-contract basis.

But with Losasso living more than 100 miles away in the Buckinghamshire town of Marlow, Simkin has admitted that the club wouldn’t be able to fork out for his wages and travelling expenses.

If Losasso’s circumstances changed then Simkin admits he would be interested in having him back at the county town club, though he feels that’s unlikely to happen.

“Charlie is looking for a full-time club so I don’t expect to see him again due to the fact he lives in Marlow,” said Simkin.

“We covered his expenses to travel down to Dorchester but we wouldn’t be in a position to pay his wages and travelling costs.

“He had his contract paid up by Bournemouth and came to Dorchester to put himself in the shop window.

“I was happy for him to do that and happy to pay him his expenses down and back.

“We shook hands after the last game and I thanked him for everything he had done for us.

“If he lived closer I would have been very interested in keeping him and if his situation changed we would see, but it’s unlikely to.”

Losasso, who originally joined Dorchester with fellow Cherries’ loanee Jake McCarthy back in January, took time to acclimatise to Conference South football, but once he did he more than held his own during the club’s relegation fight.

And Simkin expressed his gratitude to the player for his efforts.

He added: “I hope he gets a full-time club in the area, there are plenty of them.

“I would like to think someone will give him a chance.

“We were delighted to have him at the club, he did really well for us and he is a lovely lad as well.”
