BOSS Jason Matthews is bracing his side for a demanding test at home tomorrow (3pm) when the Terras take on Hitchin Town.

Weymouth were left to lick their wounds this week following a first loss of the season against St Neots last Saturday.

And they didn’t have the opportunity to respond as their scheduled trip to Bideford was called off due to floodlight failure.

That didn’t stop Matthews from doing his homework for what is a busy bank holiday weekend schedule, as he got the chance to view Dorchester’s 1-0 defeat to Chippenham in preparation for the eagerly-anticipated derby.

And while the Weymouth chief has scouted the Magpies, he has also gathered a good deal of information on the visiting Canaries for tomorrow.

He told Echosport: “Hitchin will be a good test for us. I know a little bit about their system and I have had a chat with another manager about them and how they play.

“I feel they were a strong and physical side last year but they did try to get it down and play.

“They played on the break a little bit last year and we will be wary of that because teams will do that at the Bob Lucas this season.

“Teams enjoy coming to the ground and get up for the game because it has a good atmosphere.

“They will be difficult to beat and it gives me a chance to see how far we have come.”

Hitchin currently occupy seventh spot in the league standings, winning three out of their first four games.

Tomorrow’s visitors left it late to win on their last league outing on Monday night, a penalty from Lewis Rolfe proving the decisive factor in the 85th minute of their clash with Paulton Rovers.

The Terras look to have no absentees and striker Tim Sills could make his first home league appearance if selected, but Matthews remained coy over the decision to play the frontman from the start.

On the selection quandary, he said: “We will look into it and I have a team in mind.

“I will run it past a couple of my staff and we will take it from there.”
