CHICKERELL United are bidding for a hat-trick of wins tomorrow (3pm) as they take on bottom club Portland United Reserves at Grove Corner.

The Chickens breezed past Okeford United on the opening day and bagged a prized scalp by overcoming Holt United 2-0 at the Stalls, meaning the Chickens have scored seven goals without conceding so far.

But manager Steve Coward is not taking the Blues lightly, and is expecting his side to be ready for battle on derby day.

He told Echosport: “I know where they are in the league but Portland always give us a tough game, it’s a local derby and they will definitely be up for it.

“Last year we went out and beat Blandford and Westland Sports, who were the favourites, but then we went out and dropped points after that in games where we shouldn’t have.

“If we are going to do well this year, it’s alright beating the top teams but we need to be consistent throughout and try and beat whoever you have to beat.

“The good thing is we have a very good squad now and everyone is fighting for a place, they don’t just turn up on a Saturday and put a kit on, there are players within the squad who can all step in and do the job, which is a massive thing.”

Elsewhere, the other team in the division boasting back-to-back wins are Balti House, who will be looking to continue their hot form when they host Witchampton United (3pm).

Dorchester Sports are also in action as Piddletrenthide Spartans visit the Milborne St Andrew Sports Field (3pm).

Sports could hand debuts to new signings Ben Mackie, Dean Williams and Darren Webb.
