JASON Matthews described Redditch United’s 85th minute equaliser as a “gutting blow” as his side was on top for the majority of their clash with the Reds.

A Stewart Yetton first-half strike looked like it was going to be enough for the visitors, but up stepped Redditch’s Jamie Spencer to convert from the spot after Chris McPhee’s foul in the area.

“It’s greatly annoying,” Matthews told Echosport.

“I felt we played some great stuff at times and it’s just frustrating that we have given a goal away so late in the day.

“It was a little bit of an injustice after dominating the game for long periods. To concede late on was a gutting blow but it’s still a point away from home and we will stay positive.

“We missed some chances and we have been punished, but we will learn from it and move on.”

On the penalty decision, the Terras’ boss added: “It was a definite penalty but I felt that we could have kept the ball a little better in the build up.

“I don’t need to speak to Chris (McPhee) about it, Chris knew what he had done, apart from that he was outstanding all game.

“It just goes to show how well we played when Redditch came off celebrating a point at the end.”
