CHICKERELL UNITED 4 GILLINGHAM RESERVES 0

CHICKERELL United got back to winning ways with a bang as they hit Gillingham Town Reserves for four at the Stalls.

A double strike from forward Josh Why along with goals from the returning Warren White and Steve Welch proved enough for Steve Coward’s men to get back on track, after suffering a narrow defeat to league leaders Balti House last time out. The result sees the Chickens move into third place in the Dorset Senior League pile, having kept three clean sheets from four league games this season.

Commenting on the game, coach Martin Alway told Echo-sport: “Josh and Warren caused them problems all game and Josh could have scored a double hat-trick.

“We lacked a bit of firepower against Balti and it was nice to have Warren back in the team.

“The game lost a bit of shape after we went three 3-0 up, but Oscar Preece also did well to cause them a few problems.

“They got the ball down and played some nice stuff at times, but they didn’t create many chances and were mainly just trying to knock balls into the channels or over the top which wasn’t really working.”

Elsewhere in the division, South Cheriton moved into second place following a 3-2 win at Okeford Utd with Ben Chant grabbing both of Okeford’s consolation goals.

Holt and Sturminster Newton United, who the Chickens face this Saturday, played out a 1-1 draw while Portland United Res-erves visited Piddletrenthide Spartans and won 2-0.

Lytchett Red Triangle stayed on top of Division One following their 7-1 home win over bottom side Swanage Town & Herston Reserves.

Stourpaine moved into second after a 3-1 home win over Poole Borough Reserves and Shaftes-bury Town Reserves played out a 1-1 draw with Canford United.

Westland Sports Reserves won 4-2 at Bere Regis with Carl Hann and John Sanders on target for the visitors.

Wyke Regis moved into pole position in Division Two following a 5-3 win at Portland Town.
