JUST two victories now separate Weymouth from the first round proper of this season’s FA Cup, as their quest for a lengthy run in the competition continues at Billericay Town tomorrow (3pm).

Weymouth will have defensive duo Jake Wannell and Ed Palmer both available after serving their respective suspensions, which manager Jason Matthews believes is a slight relief after his squad was stretched during Tuesday’s 3-0 win at Ciren-cester Town.

He told Echosport: “It gives us a boost as we were very low on numbers at Cirencester the other night.

“We only really had two subs that were fully fit which was a little bit of a worry, but we got over it well.

“It will be nice to get them back to speed because we have a long run of games to contend with.

“It also gives me a bit of competition and means nobody can rest on their laurels.”

Hosts Billericay have heavily bolstered their ranks this week with the addition of four new attacking options, two of which, Roman Michael-Percil and Jacob Cleaver are eligible to line up against the Terras.

They also warmed up for tomorrow’s clash with a convincing 8-2 triumph over Great Wakering Rovers in their respective League Cup competition on Monday night, with Cleaver bagging a hat-trick.

And although Blues’ boss Craig Edwards is targeting a place in the first round himself, he believes his side are “big underdogs” for the game – something Matthews does not quite agree with.

He added: “They are the home side and there is no doubt they will be up for the game and I will be making sure that my lads are up for it.

“I wouldn’t say that we were favourites, they are probably trying to take the pressure away from themselves.”

Frontman Tim Sills, pictured, will be reassessed ahead of the game after failing a fitness test on Tuesday night. Chris McPhee also took a knock to a knee in midweek which will be monitored, and Sam Poole continues his recovery from ankle ligament damage.

On the occasion itself, which has £7,500 in prize money at stake, Matthews added: “It’s massive on a number of levels with the finance, the prestige, and the publicity that goes with the FA Cup."
