JASON Matthews insists he would not swap Stewart Yetton for any other striker in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

The Terras’ skipper scored twice in his side’s 3-1 win at Dunstable on Saturday, taking his league tally to 11 for the season.

But, according to player-manager Matthews, it is not just his goal scoring that makes him such a valuable asset to have.

“Stewart’s work rate is fantastic and he reaps the rewards for all the effort he puts in,” he said. “I can’t speak highly enough of him.

“He is a leader and sets the standards that everyone else should follow.

“The work he puts in makes it a pleasure to have him in the team.

“I would put him in the top three strikers in the league with the likes of Ben Mackey and Drew Roberts.

“But I wouldn’t swap Stewart for either of those or anyone else in the league.”

Saturday’s success against one of their promotion rivals lifted the Terras to fourth in the table.

Yetton netted twice in the first half, one a penalty, before the hosts replied with a spot-kick in the second period.

However, Chris McPhee sealed the three points with his side’s third goal.

“To go to one of the form teams and beat them on their own patch was great,” added Matthews.

“We played well against a decent side and our centre-halves were very good on the day.

“We’re not playing in the league for a bit now but the three points means we’ll still be in the mix when we get back to it.”

* The Terras now know they will host Shortwood United in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, November 1 (3pm).

Shortwood beat Larkhall Athletic 4-2 in the preliminary round at the weekend.
