LOANEE Calvin Brooks believes his time spent among the Terras’ ranks has been invaluable, as his current loan deal is set to expire at the end of this weekend.

The Yeovil Town defender penned an initial one-month deal at the Bob Lucas Stadium to cover for the losses of fellow central-defenders Ed Palmer and Sam Poole, who have missed games both through injury and suspension.

In gaining a run in the side, the 20-year-old, who is contracted with the Glovers until January, has imp-ressed the Weymouth faithful and insists everyone at the club has made him feel wanted during his short stay.

He told Echosport: “Since I have been down there I have loved it, and getting the games has given me that little bit more of an edge in training when I’m at Yeovil in the week.

“One of the most important things for me is to feel wanted and feel like I can actually make a difference to a team. I haven’t had much chance at Yeovil and Dorchester so to get it at Weymouth has been really good and I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from the fans.

“I want to thank all the boys for the way they have welcomed me and made me feel at home, when I go to the stadium now it doesn’t feel like I’m just at a loan club.

“I have to thank Jase as well for giving me the opportunity because I didn’t have a lot of pedigree. I had Yeovil to my name but I hadn’t done that much and I feel grateful to him for giving me the opportunity to play games.”

And having been such a hit in the Terras’ setup, the former Dorchester Town man could have his stay extended with the club.

Manager Jason Matthews told Echosport: “I will be looking to extend it for a month and the ball is in motion, I don’t think he wants to go anywhere else.

“We have kept clean sheets while Calvin has been here which is always pleasing.”

And whether Saturday’s FA Cup showdown with Braintree is Brooks’ last game for the club or not, he is heavily focused on the encounter.

“Everyone is going to be up for it and it’s a huge game for the club,” he said.

“It’s such a big game and everyone is concentrating on it. I know if I’m picked I need to play well in that game because it can earn the club so much money and more.”
