GRAHAM Kemp was an angry man after another mistake cost his Dorchester Town side dearly on Saturday.

The Magpies’ boss vented his fury at the way Lee Reed was allowed to score the only goal of the game in Biggleswade’s 1-0 victory.

Once again, Kemp was satisfied with the effort of his players, but he was left seething by the defending of the corner that resulted in Reed’s first-half strike.

“The goal that separated the two teams was from a set-piece,” he said. “One person didn’t do their job and we lost the game.

“If he’d done his job it would have been 0-0 and we could have gone on to win it.

“It’s annoying because it’s another goal our opponents have had to do nothing for.

“It was a nothing ball into the box six yards out, someone was unmarked and he stabbed it home.

“The lads were angry in the changing room because everyone is given a job to do and one person didn’t do theirs.

“That mistake has cost us a goal, the same as a mistake at Histon did.

“It knocks the stuffing out of us and the players know they’ve got to score two.

“I think we then play more in hope than expectation.

“We created six or seven half-chances but weren’t ruthless enough to take any of them.”

Commenting further on the error that led to the goal, he added: “Frustration and disappointment is rapidly turning to anger because things like that have cost us and it’s another game gone.”

Kemp feels that the Magpies are “good enough to be in the top half of the table, if not higher”, but if they keep failing to produce the goods it could be a long winter ahead.

And when asked if there is scope to add new faces to his squad, he said: “I’ve got a list as long as my arm of players that I’d like to bring in, but I can’t.

“There are players out there that want £200 a week but I haven’t got it, so there’s no point even speaking to them.

“As it stands we’ll go with what we’ve got, try and put things right, and learn the lessons from Saturday.

“I’m hoping we’re only one good result from turning things around.”

The Dorchester boss also confirmed that injured duo Jake Smeeton and Jamie Gleeson would not be for another week to 10 days.
