WEYMOUTH RESERVES 7 PARLEY SPORTS 4

FRESH from bonfire night last week, Weymouth Reserves and Parley produced some fireworks of their own as the Terras came out on top of an 11-goal bonanza at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

An own goal as well as strikes from Conor Jevon, Josh Tennant, Adam Anstey and Jamie Beasley put Jake Richmond’s young charges into a commanding 5-1 lead at the break.

Anstey’s effort was also important for off-the-field reasons on the day.

Sporting an alice band, the defender was not permitted to cut his hair before he found the net for the Terras once more, with the hosts providing him with a makeshift barber’s chair for his celebration after he found the net.

And the goals by no means dried up in the second period as Sports then rallied to get one back on 54 minutes.

There was also a contentious moment when a Parley defender appeared to handle the ball on the goal line during the second period, but no call was made by the match official.

Parley, who Richmond was full of praise for following the game, then reduced the deficit once more as they made it 5-3 to put some nerves among the home side.

But Jevon then showed his class and added his second of the afternoon, and after the Terras had conceded once more, replacement Sean Zima fired home the final goal of the game four minutes from time to make it 7-4, and seal three points for the hosts.

“We were outstanding in the first half. We came in 5-1 up when we could have come in with six or seven,” Richmond told Echo-sport.

“It was that sort of game where we knew there was going to be goals and I knew the lads were going to be really up for it.

“We ripped them apart in the first half and they just could not cope with us.

“We were so lively up front with Beasley, Jevon and Tennant, they were all really on it.

“I said to the boys at half-time not to give them anything and to be solid, but we gifted them two or three goals to let them right back in it and we never should have done really.”

“It was a crazy game but going forward we were outstanding, we could have scored 10 or 11 in total and they could have scored six or seven.”

Weymouth now occupy fifth place in the Dorset Premier League standings, just a solit- ary point behind Parley in fourth.
