STRIKER Mark Ford is set to be heading out the door at the Bob Lucas Stadium over the next few days.

The frontman who penned a revised one-year deal with the club in May, turned out for Blandford United Reserves in the Dorset Senior League last Saturday, and scored for the Royals in their 1-1 draw with Corfe Mullen United while under contract with Weymouth, after telling the club he wanted a break from football.

Commenting on the situation, Terras boss Jason Matthews told Echosport: “Mark said that he wanted a break from football to me for personal reasons, and that was something we respected.

“We are obviously going to have to release him from his contract but the door is always open for Mark.

“He has done very well for Wey-mouth but, for one reason or another, it’s not quite gone for him this year and I have to do what’s best for the football club.”

Shedding more light on the matter, Ford added: “We both agreed to it and, just at this moment in time, I have a lot of things going on, and with work commitments as well, I can’t give 100 per cent to Jason and that’s what I want to give.

“The door is always going to be open for me, we have had a good chat and hopefully at the start of the New Year I can come back but at the moment I can’t give him what I want and what he wants.”

On the field, Matthews will be looking to focus those that are available to him for their clash with Burnham at home tomorrow (3pm).

Speaking about the FA Trophy test, worth £3,250 in prize money to the club, the manager said: “They (Burnham) have nothing to lose and they will come at us, if we keep the ball and play our game it makes it difficult for them, but if we have an off day it could be a hard one for us.

“We treat teams with the same respect, we don’t take anything for granted and I drill that into the players, they are buying into that and you can tell by our results so far.

“We will be monitoring Tim Sills’ knee again but other than that we have a full squad to choose from and there’s positive vibes in the camp.

“It’s still a chance to get to Wembley and from my own personal point of view I am desperate to get there.”

The club’s evening with Portsmouth legend Alan Knight takes place tonight at the Bob Lucas Stadium (7pm).

There are also rearranged home fixtures for the Terras when they take on Arlesey Town on Sunday, December 28 (3pm) and St Neots Town on Tuesday, January 20 (7.45pm).
