JASON Matthews admitted his aggravation about not being able to shake off Burnham at home in the FA Trophy, as the sides played out a goalless draw on Saturday.

The Terras’ player-manager vented his frustration at a lacklustre performance from the home side, which means they now travel to do battle at the Gore with the Blues once again tomorrow.

“It didn’t go for us and I was frustrated, the crowd were frustrated, my players were frustrated and it was just a frustrating day all round,” he told Echo-sport.

“I just didn’t think some things dropped for us, the fans weren’t happy with the referee either, he didn’t let the game flow.

“Burnham came with a game plan and fair play to them they have executed it very well. In saying that, I felt that we had a couple of good chances.

“We will go there, be positive and perhaps they will come out a little bit and we will be able to play our game a little bit better.”

The Weymouth chief also explained why he left it until the 74th minute to bring on experienced frontman Tim Sills against a powerful Burnham rearguard.

He added: “They are a big side but Tim (Sills) is not fully fit at the minute with his knee, I’m very wary and I want to protect the lad because he is a great lad and is a massive asset for us.

“Maybe I could have brought him on a little bit earlier than I did, but I am very wary and I don’t want to lose him. He goes for a scan tomorrow and we will see the extent of his knee damage.

“It may be the case that I need to use him tomorrow and, if anything, maybe we can get a few flick-ons and get behind them a little bit.”

“It is going to be two tough games now against Burnham in five days, if their pitch is like last season it will be a bit bobbly but it will be a test of character for the lads. But I back every one of them, and they haven’t let me down yet.”
