WEYMOUTH are set to lock horns with Bideford tonight (7.45pm) for the third time this season – and it is a contest which Jason Matthews believes both sets of players will treat as a cup final.

The Terras have a 100 per cent record in clashes against the Robins so far this term, boasting a 2-1 league triumph at the Sports Ground in September as well as a 4-1 victory in the FA Cup second qualifying round at the Bob Lucas Stadium four days later.

But Weymouth player-manager Matthews is not taking the contest lightly and insists that it could be the Devon-based outfit’s biggest game of the campaign.

“We are looking forward to it,” Matthews told Echosport. “It will be another cup final.

“They will come to us and they will want to win.

“Some of our lads and their lads come from the same area and they will want to outdo us, and it will probably be their biggest game of the season.

“It is a big scalp for them and they will probably play nowhere near as well on Sat-urday against someone else.

“That is what we have to deal with because we are the biggest club in this area.”

The Robins slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Biggleswade Town at the weekend and currently lie 19th in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, with 22 points from 21 outings.

The cup clash between the sides earlier in the season saw Calvin Brooks make his Weymouth debut.

And Matthews has been boosted by the news that will be able to re-unite his central defensive partnership of Brooks and Jamie Laird tonight after the latter missed Saturday’s win over Banbury with a dead leg.

Full-back Ashley Wells returns from suspension to give Matthews a virtually fully fit squad to choose from.

Terras: Matthews, West, Wannell, McPhee, Poole, Brooks, Kelly, Copp, Colwell, Rigg, Yetton, Sills, Shephard, Wells, J Laird, Jevon, C Laird, Winsper
