KINGS Arms further underlined their status as the best side in the Weymouth Sunday League with a 5-1 victory at closest rivals New Star.

The win puts Kings Arms six points clear of the Grove Corner outfit in the race for the title – both sides have eight matches left to play.

And Dean Williams kept up his record of having scored in every one of his team’s league fixtures this term.

The striker netted twice for the visitors, while Danny Andrews, Norton Rogers and Carl McClements also got on the scoresheet.

The hosts’ sole reply came courtesy of Marcus Simpson.

Famous Old Spa are now only three points behind New Star in third following their 9-0 thrashing of Bakers Arms.

Dean Taylor found the net four times for the Spa, who have still only lost twice this season.

Leon Attree, Luke Hearn, Jamie Rawlins, Chris Skinner and substitute Mark Duffy added to Bakers’ woes.

Top individual scorer of the weekend was Dolphin’s Ricky Lane.

He registered a double hat-trick in his side’s emphatic 8-1 thumping of Junction Trojans.

Ishmael Gonzalez and Sean Gulliver got the visitors’ other goals, while Josh Rooks replied for the bottom club.

Craig Menton and Chris Shutlar netted for Weatherbury in their 2-2 draw with Sailors Return, The Alex saw off Broadmayne 5-2 and Moby Dick’s beat Market House 2-0.

All bar one of Sunday’s games were won by the visiting team, with the other ending in a draw.
