BALTI HOUSE 3 HOLT UNITED 1

BALTI boss Marco Nott believes his side are “right back in it” as the Dorset Senior League is close to reaching boiling point.

Nott’s men came from a goal down to overcome Holt United 3-1 at Weymouth College at the weekend, to go back to the league summit with title-rivals Chickerell United suffering defeat to Gillingham Town Reserves.

It took just five minutes for Thomas Gagan to put Holt in the box seat for the majority of the encounter, but Balti turned up the heat on their visitors in the second period to ensure they claimed all three points.

Balti’s leveller came on the hour when midfielder Ethan Devaney played a clever ball through for Ricky Lane, who boss Nott has been highly impressed with this season, and he made no mistake in slotting the ball into the far corner.

Replacement Grant Chance then made it 2-1 with 75 minutes on the clock after Andy Nott had pulled off a great save to keep the scores level, and Lane was on hand once again to wrap things up for the home side after Shane Lock had teed him up.

Manager Nott told Echosport: “It wasn’t the best of starts and they were on top for a good 20 minutes, but it was probably the best we have played all season to be honest.

“After losing to Chickerell last week, if we had lost this game we may have been out of it really, Holt are one of the teams around us so it was good to put one on them.

“The Chickerell result this week has given us a bit of belief that we are still in it and if we put a good run together there is no reason why we can’t get promotion.

“We are still not favourites to win the league, Chickerell and South Cheriton are really, but it gives us a bit of momentum.”
